Comment : As on the first night, overnight journey finishing in early morning of the 8th, camped outside caravan hire yard in Zeebrugge. (*) refers to Johan's last demonstration of skill in navigation, when he gave us a scenic tour of central Brussels, disguised as an attempt to find the station.

7 October
We did not leave until the end of the afternoon, and it was not a memorable journey.
It was enlivened by Johan's last navigational triumph, which saw us go round and round
central Brussels in the small hours looking for the station. He was leaving us and
catching a train back to his parents in northern Spain. Finally one of the other
navigators took pity and stepped in, and we found the station a few minutes
later.
By the time we reached Zeebrugge it was almost 0430. We were tired out and simply
dropped the groundsheet at the first convenient-looking spot and settled down.
